Resources for living Gluten-Free
This page is sponsored by Gluten Free Steals: A new and exciting Maine-based business!
The Celiac Society is a volunteer organization working to provide the latest information and resources for gluten-free living and coping with celiac disease. Their site hosts many features including a list of approximately 3,000 mainstream gluten-free products and printer-friendly allergy alert cards for dining out.
Their Gluten-free Information Portal allows you to enter an ingredient to see if it is safe or forbidden.
Their Manufacturer Search allows you to enter the name of a company to check to see which of their products are safe (or unsafe) for Celiacs.
Founded in 1990, the Celiac Disease Foundation assists, and supports people with information about Celiac Disease.
Their website is extensive, including a gluten-free diet and lifestyle section, a Kids Korner, and news and events.
Support Groups
Attendance at their meetings is open and free to all celiacs, their family members or friends who are interested in learning more about celiac and how to live the gluten-free lifestyle.
A chapter of Celiac Sprue Association of the USA, Inc., the group meets about every 6-8 weeks, usually at the Maine Health Learning Resource Center in Falmouth. There is usually a Pot Luck meal of gluten-free foods and theytry to arrange for manufacturers to donate products for everyone to sample.
They maintain a library of gluten-free cookbooks and resource information at the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center, and during the meetings they have gluten-free manufacturers' catalogs available to pick up, along with other useful resource information.

The Triumph Dining Gluten-Free Grocery Guide
This conveniently-sized book lists over 30,000 gluten-free items found in your favorite supermarket. The listings are broken down into food groups, much like the aisles in the market. Instantly check whether those baked beans are gluten-free.
The Triumph guide also indicates which products are produced in GF facilities (where there's no chance of cross-contamination), which use gluten testing and which might suffer from cross-contamination. Some products share facilities with gluten-containing ingredients, but have procedures in place to mitigate cross-contamination. These products are also noted, along with products that are reviewed on the basis of their ingredients listings.
